#Be4Bees #YayItsEarthDay :)
Today on Earth Day, we'd like to know what you're doing to help the Earth. To get your creative ideas started, here's what we're doing. We're lessening our lawn areas and increasing our landscaping beds by suppressing the grass and weeds with recycled cardboard. We've saved all our newspapers, magazines, pizza, cereal, and mailing boxes. Flattenend them. Layed them in the area we want to make into a bed. Watered them down to help them stay put. And now we'll mulch on top. The cardboard suppresses the grass and weeds without using chemicals or plastic, breaks down over the season to make wonderful, crumbly awesomely good growing soil, and encourages tons of earthworms that help with all their naturally fertilizing worm-poo. This bed is going to be easy to plant in and the plants are going to happily grow like gangbusters! I hope you give this idea a try. I know you, your plants and your backyard wildlife will be very happy with the results :)
Please tell us what you'll be doing this Earth Day! We always love hearing from our "Lots of Lifers" & sharing your wonderful tips, ideas, triumphs, pictures and stories. Thanks for all you do because "By Wildlife Gardening Together, We're All Saving The World 1 Little Lot At A Time".
Hope you have a great day!
