Today I was talking with Nora from Chagrin Valley Nurseries in Gates Mills, Ohio, working on some upcoming spring planting ideas. I was asking about Crabapple trees to help pollinators, and she asked if I knew about the tricks that Wild Ginger uses to entice pollinators and disperse it's seeds. I said I didn't, but thanks for the tip. After further investigation at www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/plant-of-the-week I have to agree with Nora that "the ant/plant pollination and seed dispersal methods it (Asarum canadense) employs is pretty cool" :) Please click the above link to read all the info.
If any of you are in the NE Ohio area, please give Chagrin Valley Nurseries a call or visit (440-423-3363, 1370 River Road, Gates Mills Ohio 44040). They have a huge plant selection, and are very helpful, too...Thanks Nora!
